Today, IFM Paris is hosting a lecture by japanese researcher Kaya Tsujita about Japanese Fashion origins in France. It is live-tweeted on IFM Paris feed, and a podcast will soon follow. Kaya Tsujita defends a thesis about an original approach to branding set by what she calls DC Brands (Designers Characters Brands). From the very early Kenzo and Comme des Garçons to latest talents Commuun, these designer-centered studios have developed an alternate business model to the heavy weaponry of western brands. Anyway, it’s a pretty curious and interesting story to hear about how Japanese designers came to Paris to start their brands. Maybe we parisians still live in the Capital of Fashion after all. Keep an eye out for the full record at IFM Paris!
