Rupa Singh from Jenny's Bicycle: "As fashion evolves, so do we, some more, others less"

We continue our journey among interesting fashion bloggers all over the world. We had a chance to have a conversation with Rupa Singh from Jenny’s Bicycle and who’s from India.

When did you start blogging and why?

I started my blog in June 2012. I needed a platform that would allow me to bring together all the aspects of fashion I have grown up admiring. The idea of writing about something that I love was really cool. A blog sounded perfect. And I had a few friends who were telling me to start a blog since a long time.

How would you define Indian fashion style?

Vibrancy, lots of accessories and a fusion of west and east. They enjoy the best of both worlds: Indian ethnic and the western. I think a majority of Indian women go for the conventional and widely admired designs. But I have seen a few rebels too and they are really great!

What are the Indian designers or brands we must follow?

Sailex, Ritu Kumar, Gaurav Jai Gupta, Bibhu Mohapatra

Your blog started with a poem about freedom: do you think that fashion can change the world?

Yes I do think so. If you notice that women in a certain part of the planet have started dressing up differently, something sure changes in that part of the world. As fashion evolves, so do we, some more, others less.

Which blogs do you follow?

Many actually. I am very fond of The Sartorialist, Stockholm Street Style, Wear About to name a few.

What can we wish you?

Wish me Freedom, happiness and a lifetime supply of dark chocolates!
